Year 7 topics studied:
  • Introduction to History – focusing on historical skills using Peterborough’s very own prehistoric murder mystery!
  • The Roman Empire – how did the Empire develop? Who ruled it and how did they stay in control? What was life like under the Romans?
  • The Middle Ages – the Norman Invasion, who should be king? How did the Normans stay in control? What was life like in the Middle Ages?

 

Year 8 topics studied;
  • The Tudors – Henry VIII and his six wives, the dissolution of the Monasteries, Elizabeth I.
  • The Stuarts – the Civil War – whose fault was it? Cromwell, hero or villain?
  • The Black Peoples of the Americas – from slavery to Civil Rights. Why did Black People have to fight to be treated equally?
  • The American West

 

Year 9 topics studied:
  • The Industrial Revolution – why did England change from a green and pleasant land to a brown and smelly land? Why did the population increase?
  • World War I – was WWI the ‘War to end all wars’? Why did the peace fail?
  • The Rise of the Nazis – who were the Nazis? Why did people vote for Hitler? What was life like under the Nazis? The Holocaust.
